IBTM: INNOVATION NORWAY

  • PROJECT: IBTM

  • CLIENT: INNOVATION NORWAY NPG

  • SURFACE AREA: 101 M²

  • LOCATION: FIRA BARCELONA

Overview:

  • A 100mm raised floor, an open bar/kitchen, and a 4.5m structure with large curves create a spacious area for high tables, where one-to-one meetings are held throughout the fair.

Challenges:

  • Working with large concave and convex curves proved to be a complex task.

  • Avoiding fabric bumps where two curves meet was particularly difficult.

A thumbs up:

  • We had to create a campfire, mimicking an outdoor space where people gather to warm up by the fire. The wood was real and it had a small built-in speaker to recreate the crackling of burning embers

A thumbs down:

  • Although the idea of using pixel-to-pixel LED strips to create an aurora borealis effect on the walls was excellent, the nearby 50W spotlights reduced the visibility of the digital LEDs.

An Efficiency Tip:

  • Even though it’s the same stand year after year, the organizer might change his mind and request static calculations for the first time. Yes, that was the case.

Interesting Facts:

  • The Norwegian stand is famous at IBTM for its spectacular party, where 300 people dance on the platform.

  • The DJ is actually a member of the Innovation Norway staff, who swaps his suit for a bear costume and spins great music.
